These Brown Butter Espresso Chocolate Chip Cookies are the perfect treat to express your affection—a delightful mix of rich, nutty flavors and a touch of caffeine to sweeten up the special day.
Why You’ll Fall in Love with This Recipe?

These cookies aren’t your average chocolate chip cookies. Browning the butter adds a deep, caramelized nuttiness, while espresso powder intensifies the chocolate flavor, making each bite irresistible. The heart shape not only makes them festive but also gives them a handmade touch that shows you care. Whether you’re baking them for your partner, friends, or family, these cookies are sure to spread love and joy.

What You’ll Need:
  • Unsalted butter: For that rich, nutty browned butter flavor.
  • Granulated sugar and brown sugar: The perfect combination for sweetness and chewiness.
  • Espresso powder: Adds a subtle coffee flavor that complements the chocolate.
  • Chocolate chips or chunks: Use high-quality dark or semi-sweet chocolate for the best results.
  • All-purpose flour: The base of your cookie dough.
  • Baking soda: For a soft and chewy texture.
  • One egg and one egg yolk: Essential for binding and richness.
  • Vanilla extract: Adds depth of flavor.
  • Heart-shaped cookie cutter: To make them extra festive.

The Magic of Brown Butter:

Browning butter is a game-changer in baking. It’s a simple process that elevates the flavor profile of your cookies. By cooking the butter until it turns golden brown and releases a nutty aroma, you’ll add an irresistible depth of flavor to your dough. Just be sure to let it cool slightly before mixing it with the other ingredients.

Easy Steps to Sweet Success:
  1. Brown the butter: Melt and brown your butter over medium heat, then let it cool.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients: Combine flour, baking soda, and a pinch of salt in a bowl.
  3. Blend the wet ingredients: Beat the cooled brown butter, sugars, espresso powder, one egg, and one egg yolk until creamy. Add vanilla extract.
  4. Combine: Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined, then fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Chill the dough: Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to enhance flavor and prevent spreading.
  6. Shape and bake: Roll out the dough, cut out heart shapes, and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 8-10 minutes or until edges are golden brown.
  7. Cool and enjoy: Let the cookies cool on a wire rack before sharing (or indulging yourself!).

    Welcome to Scratch Crafted Meals!

Hi there! I’m Victoria (Tori Lynn) the creator of Scratch Crafted Meals. I started this blog as a space to share my love for creating delicious, homemade dishes from scratch in which I do for my family weekly.

There’s something magical about taking simple ingredients and transforming them into meals that bring people together, and I’m thrilled to share that magic with you.

My approach to cooking is all about celebrating the process. Whether it’s mastering a classic recipe, trying something new, or finding ways to make everyday meals a little more special, I believe good food doesn’t have to be complicated – it just has to be crafted with care.

Beyond the recipes, you’ll find stories, tips, and a little behind-the-scenes peek into my kitchen. Whether you’re a seasoned home chef or just starting your culinary journey, my goal is to inspire confidence, spark creativity, and maybe even make cooking feel a little less like a chore and a lot more like an adventure.

So, grab your apron and let’s create something amazing – from scratch.

    Thanks for stopping by!
    Warmly,
    Tori Lynn
